Our family is forever

Today marks our 10 year anniversary, and every year keeps getting better and better!

“I love to see the Temple; I’m going there someday...” the words to this beautiful primary song have been in our minds for a very long time; and after 10 wonderful years of marriage and the birth of our son, this song became a reality for the Ivie family.

Today, our little family was able to be sealed as a family for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple. We were so excited to finally get to this point in our lives, and have each other forever. We had our immediate family there to enjoy this special time with us, and boy was it special. The temple is such a beautiful place, and we cannot wait to go back. The temple is for sure our new favorite place! Tyler was so precious and the most handsome little man all dressed in his little white suit. Tyler made some wonderful new friends that took extra good care of him for the first little while. Tyler loved these special women; so much, that he did not want to come to us when it was time for the sealing. After a little convincing, Tyler agreed to sit with us, and we are so glad he did! Brother Hatch gave our little family some wonderful words of wisdom and then sealed us for time and all eternity. It was such a wonderful day!

June 4, 2009 will definitely be a day to remember for our little family. We are so grateful to have each other...we make each other complete! We are so thankful for everyone who helped us get to this special point in our lives...it was completely worth it! We also want to send a big thank you to all the special people who made this day so memorable. We love each one of you very much and appreciate all that you do for our little family.

Memorial Day

It's always been a tradition for the Larsen family to attend the Memorial Day Services at the Holden cemetery, and honor our service men and women. It's a day that I have always looked forward to and a tradition I would like to continue with my own little family.

This year, we didn't make it over to Holden, so our little family attended the services in Richfield. It was such a beautiful morning! We started off with a delicious breakfast from the local Lion's Club, watched friends and family reuniting and telling stories of their loved ones, attended the the veterans program...what a neat experience that was, and then ended our morning with a walk through the beautiful cemetery decorated with lots of flowers and flags.

I didn't know how long Tyler would last, being as young as he is; but to my amazement, Tyler did great...he was so cute and loved every minute we were there! It's as if he he wanted to show his appreciation to all our veterans at his very young age. Tyler took the time to smell all the flower arrangements, shake strangers hands, and recognize the American flag at each of the veterans graves.

I am so proud to be an American, and I am so thankful for all the men and women who have served and who are serving this wonderful country we call home.

Dentist, Bike's, and Corn Dog's

We made a trip to Holden to visit the dentist today. Tyler was such a big boy and let Uncle/Dr. Larsen take a look at the many teeth he has in his mouth. It looks like Tyler has more molars coming in too! Afterwards, we made a quick stop at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Tyler found the bike that the Easter Bunny left for all the grandkids. Although Tyler couldn't quite reach the pedals, he had a blast riding the bike while Grandma and Grandpa pushed him around.

If you all know Russ, he dreads going to the dentist. Once we got home, Russ immediately went for one of his favorite comfort foods...a corndog. Tyler showed a lot of interest in the corndog so Russ decided to share. Tyler ended up loving the corndog so much, that Russ had very few bites of his favorite food.

Easter 2009

On Saturday, we ventured over the mountain into Millard County to visit our family for Easter. We are so lucky to live close enough to both of our families, that we usually get to spend the holidays with everyone. Tyler had a wonderful Easter this year. His new found love is the plastic egg! He could spend all day long playing with the eggs…he quickly found out there was candy inside the eggs, which made the eggs even more fun to play with. He even figured out how to balance the eggs on his nose…silly boy!

Our first stop was at Grandma Ivie’s. When we arrived, there sat a great big Easter basket filled with all of Tyler’s favorites. Tyler and Grandma enjoyed going through the basket to see all the surprises. Thanks Grandma Ivie!

Our next stop was Grandma & Grandpa Larsen’s house. Grandma had a delicious lunch prepared and then it was time for her annual Easter egg hunt with all the cousins. Since the weather didn’t cooperate, Grandma held the Easter egg hunt inside this year. Tyler had a ball!

That afternoon, the whole Larsen clan gathered together for our annual balloon shoot. Unfortunately, the weather was rotten for this type of activity so the balloon shoot didn’t pan out. But we did manage to have a good time roasting hot dogs, marshmallows, and starbursts over a campfire…yes we were standing in the rain! Good times…maybe we'll have better luck next year!
On Sunday morning, our little family attended our church meetings and then spent the rest of the day outside. We love to be outside, especially on a beautiful day like today! The sun was out, the sky was blue, the grass was green, and the flowers were in full bloom. While we were outside, Tyler noticed his first Daffodil and immediately fell in love with them.

He loved to touch them...

Dad taught him...

He loved to smell them...

He even liked to taste them...

Self Feeding

Tyler continues to love food and insists he feed himself...he totally knows he's a toddler! His new love right now is strawberries, olives, ham and cheese sandwiches, chips-n-salsa, bannanas, and anything else he can get his hands on.

12 Month Doctor Appointment

Today, Tyler and I went to visit Dr. Greenwood for the twelve month wellness check and yes there were a few shots shots involved. Tyler weighed in at a whopping 20 pounds(6th percentile...barely on the charts), and measured 30.5 inches long (that puts him in the 54 percentile). Dr. Greenwood agrees that Tyler is a handsome, healthy, happy boy. Thank you Dr. Greenwood for continuing to care for our medical needs...you are great!

Tyler's Second Hair Cut

Tyler was in a bad need of a hair cut, we couldn't let him go out of the house again until he was "trimmed up"! Today was the day...after church we gave Tyler his second hair cut! Tyler was once again super good during the hair cut...I think he really enjoys it! Here is the break down of how things went...

Tyler's First Attempt at Branding Cows

After the Saturday session of General Conference, Tyler and I drove over to Aurora and watched the Wasden’s brand their cows. Tyler instantly fell in love with all the activities that were taking place. I'm pretty sure if I would have let him, he would have been right in the middle of the branding operation trying to help out. Look out cow branders, Tyler's going to be your right hand man next year and in the years to come!

Tyler and I first met up with his cousin Dalli and his Grandma Larsen.

Next it was off to assist with operating the shoot.

And what boy doesn't like to play in the dirt? Tyler had a ball loading everything he could into this wagon.

Aunt Penni took Tyler for a ride on her horse Rugar. This is definately Tyler's new love!

Here’s a picture of our little cowboy taking a very close look at the herd of cows.

Rugar even got a kiss on the nose after the ride.

Can you tell Tyler is having the time of his life…just look at that smile!

We ended our visit by taking this picture with Grandpa and Grandma Larsen.

Thank you Wasden family for allowing us to come out and visit your branding operation. We had a great time!
