6 Months Old

A lot of changes took place at the Ivie house this past week. Tyler turned 6 months old on Saturday, he received his first two teeth on Sunday, and we started the "weaning" process on Monday (Tyler started daycare). It seemed as though everything was coming all at once! You can imagine how hard the whole daycare thing was for us, especially since Tyler has been able to be at work with us for the past six months. Russ and I searched high and low to find the best daycare provider for Tyler – we wouldn’t settle for anything less. Believe it or not, we found the perfect lady in all of Sevier Valley to watch our "little man". Her name is Cinda, and she is awesome! Monday morning came quick and we tried to be as prepared as possible. It was hard to leave our “little man” behind, and an eight hour work day never seemed so long. To be honest, we all had a few rough days adjusting to our new routine, but we managed to make it through the entire week. Let's just say, our weekends have a whole new meaning now. We love being together as a family! Thank you Miss Cinda for all that you do – we appreciate you so much.

On the 5th of September, Tyler and I made our first trip to Provo. Our mission was to have his 6 month pictures taken and pick up a few odds and ends. I expected this day to be a complete nightmare for both of us! Surprisingly, Tyler was a complete angel until the ride home! Let’s just say Tyler let me know he’d had enough just as we passed Nephi. He exercised his vocals all the way to Richfield. We’ve never been so glad to be home! Below are a few of our favorite pictures of our little 6 month old. Considering the long day of shopping prior to these pictures, we think they turned out pretty cute. Thank you Aunt Casey and Cousin Kael for spending the day with us...we couldn't have done it without you!

2 Months Old

We had Melissa Worley with Worley Photography take Tyler’s 2 month pictures. Yes this was his first photo shoot and as you can see he was quite photogenic. We are so HAPPY with how they turned out. Thank you Melissa for taking these outstanding pictures of our “little man” – you are such an amazing person with so many talents. Below are a few of our favorites. I just have to say...I think Tyler is the cutest little boy around, but what parent doesn't think that of their own child. We love you Tyler!

Check out Melissa's website and give her a call...you’ll be glad you did. Here's the link to the website: http://www.worleyphotographyrichfield.com/

The Day Our Lives Changed Forever!

We finally got our little boy on March 6, 2008. It was that morning, Russ and I prepared for another day at work. We both woke up feeling completely refreshed and ready for another day with the federal government. I had just slept through the entire night (something that I hadn’t done for a while) and felt fantastic. Russ asked the big question... “Are we having a baby today?" and I said “No, I feel way too good to be having a baby today, besides we're not due until the 15th”. We both went about our morning routine, and started to gather the garbage throughout the house (it was garbage day). As I bent over to pick up the kitchen garbage, I felt a small pop and then I had a strange feeling I was going to wet my pants. I quickly ran to the bathroom and sat there wondering what was going on. In the meantime Russ was outside waiting for me in the car. After a minute of so, he came in and asked if everything was okay. My answer was “I think my water just broke”. Well if you know Russ you can imagine what happend next. He immediately started pacing the floor. I quickly called my Mom to ask her what it felt like to have your “water break”. She couldn’t tell me because her water never broke on her own, she always had it broke for her. She asked if I was in pain, and I said “no - I feel great”. She advised us to go to the hospital and get checked out, so we did. I jumped in the driver seat of the car because 1. I felt good to drive and 2. I knew I would get us to the right place. (Side Note: for years Russ always thought the middle school was the hospital – scary huh!) Once we were in the car there was a little excitement between the two of us along with a bit of nervousness. Is today the day we get our little boy, or is this just a false alarm? All of a sudden, my first pain hit right as we were stopped at a red light; I thought the light would never turn green! We finally made it to the hospital around 8:00 am and sure enough the nurse told us we were in labor and it looked like we were going to have our baby today.

My labor and delivery was nothing like I had imagined it to be. It was so laid back and enjoyable for the most part. From the moment we arrived at the hospital, everything moved very quickly until I received the epidural. That’s when things slowed way down! After several attempts of pushing, nothing ever progressed. Our “little man” was stuck! I was told that a caesarian would be the next option if I couldn’t push him out. I knew I could push this baby out and told the professionals to give me one more try. With the help of some enormous salad tongs and a lot of pushing and pulling, our little boy finally arrived. Thank you Dr. Greenwood and nurses...you were wonderful. It wasn't until 6:22 that night that we finally got our baby. The moment I held my “little man” and looked at him for the very first time was the best feeling I've ever had.

5 lbs. 13 oz. 19 inches long.

The first time we held our "little man".

I am so lucky to have Dr. Greenwood as my doctor. He's the best!
