Our New Burley

The Ivie family purchased a Burley today. We've always wanted to purchase one, and today was our lucky day! We are so excited to use it and go for bike rides as a family. We haven't ventured out too far yet (outside of Richfield that is), but we've made our path through a good portion of Richfield and it's surrounding trails. The best part about this purchase is, Tyler absolutely loves it!

Neighborhood Boys

It's always a good day when Tyler gets to go outside and play with all his buddies...young and old. We have so many children in our neighborhood and each one will drop what their doing to come play with Tyler and of course Tyler loves to play with them. Thanks for being so good to our little man!

Happy 1st Birthday Tyler!

Our little man celebrated his 1st birthday today. Wow, it's hard to believe how fast this year flew by. Our little enthralling and mysterious infant has now accomplished sitting, crawling, walking and so much more. He is now our little toddler! Tyler is so full of personality, and such a joy to be around. Let’s just say…there is never a dull moment in our little house with both Tyler and Reno running around. Words can't begin to describe how much we love having Tyler in our lives; he has brought so much joy into our home. There isn’t a day go by that we don’t thank our Heavenly Father for our little bundle of joy. We love you Tyler and wish all the best in the years to come. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE MAN!!

The day after Tyler’s official birthday, we invited all the family over to celebrate with cake and ice cream. The day started off pretty good…the food was prepared, the treat bags were full, and the thank you gifts were ready to go. At the very last minute, I ran downtown to pick up a few last minute items before our company arrived for the party. Just as I was about to return home, Russ called and said Tyler just threw up! I quickly ran back home to help Russ take care of things and hoped that this was just a fluke. It was moments before the guests arrived, so we dressed Tyler in his very best and boy did he look handsome. To make a long story short…everyone arrived and Tyler continued to throw up throughout the day. During the party, we went through three completly different outfits...he even puked on Grandma Larsen and she had to change her outfit. Bless Tyler’s heart, he tried very hard to enjoy his company and open his gifts but continued to puke (empty gift bags come in very handy). As we tended to our sick boy, everyone went ahead and had cake and ice cream without us and then headed back to their healthy homes. Poor Tyler, this is no way to celebrate a first birthday, but it will be one we will never forget!

After several days of being sick and doing endless loads of laundry, I made this silly little cake for Tyler. It was time for him to enjoy his birthday cake and eat it too.

Rather than follow tradition and blow the candle out, Tyler decided to pinched the flame out with his fingers...ouch...silly boy!

Mmm...this is good stuff and well worth the wait!

A Little Surprise for Dad

It’s been 11 ½ months and up to this point; Tyler has never left us a surprise in the tub. Well, as the saying goes..."all good things have to come to an end". That's right, you guess it…Tyler pooped in the tub. It was Sunday Morning and the Ivie’s were in a race to get to church on time. Tyler’s in the tub having a good time and then suddenly there was complete silence. I looked over at Tyler and I could tell he was trying to do his business. I quickly gathered up all the toys before they became contaminated, and then quickly hollered for Russ to come help out with the situation. I took care of Tyler which left Russ to clean up the tub. Bless Russ' heart, he didn’t know what to do at first and struggled with how to clean up the mess. In the end, Russ gained his composure, put his head down and cleaned up the mess. Aside from me laughing extremely hard at his gag reflexes, I am so grateful for Russ and appreciate his willingness to help out…even if it’s not his "cup of tea".

Our Little Helper

We know longer have to worry about doing a task on our own…we have Tyler in our back pocket all the time. We are having so much fun watching him learn and grow. It takes us a bit longer to accomplish a task but we welcome his willingness to help out. Here’s a glimpse of our little helper in action…

Tyler supervising his Dad while he peels potatoes for dinner

Tyler loves to help his Mom bake cookies. The hard part is waiting patiently for the cookies to come out of the oven.

Bless Tyler’s heart; he loves to reorganize all of our cupboards and drawers. I guess he doesn’t like my way of organizing! In the midst of reorganizing, he found the box of q-tips!!

Both Tyler and Reno love to help load and unload the dishwasher. Both of our little men can be in the other room and as soon as they here the dishwasher door open…instant help!

It’s a good thing we have a two sided ladder, because we have a little guy who is super curious and loves to help out no matter the task at hand! Tyler insisted he help Dad change the light bulbs in the kitchen.

Tyler and Reno were a lot of help crunching numbers on the calculator, while we prepared our taxes this year.

A Few New Tricks

It amazes us how quick Tyler “catches” onto everyday life skills. Our little man is growing up so fast! Tyler has something new for us each and every day! Here are just a few…

Tyler is beginning to show some interest in feeding himself. One can only imagine the mess he creates when he self feeds, but it’s too cute to watch our little one learn and grow no matter how big the mess is. Here are a few photos of him eating on his own…

Eating scrambled eggs

Eating strawberry jell-o. At first I thought this would be a good idea, but later I realized red jell-o was a little harder to clean up…red stains everywhere!

Tyler has taken a liking to Reno’s dog food. Yes you heard right, Tyler sneaks dog food every once in a while…yuck! Reno is the only one under our roof that is allowed to partake of dog food. This is a picture of Tyler “pouting” after the dog food was taken away from him…yah he got in some trouble for eating Reno’s dog food. There’s a good ending to this story…instead of eating dog food as a snack, Tyler has taken a liking to animal crackers…yeah!

Tyler loves hats! He’s become pretty independent and loves to put a hat on his head by himself.

Our boy has a little bit of his aunt Casey in him…he loves to talk on the phone.

Tyler’s toy box finally arrived after several months of waiting. Here’s a picture of Tyler and Reno checking it out!

From day one, Tyler has enjoyed story time. Now that he is mobile, he will go to his bookcase, pull out the books and spend time looking at them all. Tyler loves books!

Tyler loves to be outside! On the days when it’s too cold to be out and about, Tyler and Reno will watch the neighbor kids play from our window.

Tyler loves to wear our sun glasses. He insists that they come off our heads and onto his. Tyler sporting Mom’s sun glasses!

If Tyler comes up missing, one can guarantee he’s playing under a piece of furniture. He loves to hang out under tables, chairs, exersaucers, and anything else he can fit under. This is Tyler climbing through the bottom of his exersaucer.

Mmm…where’s the dessert Dad had earlier…it’s got to be in here somewhere? Yes, Tyler loves to get in the fridge.

Tyler has figured out how to drink from a straw.

Tyler loves to shack things on top of heads. Thanks Grandpa Larsen for teaching him this new trick. The Ivie’s are getting pretty good at balancing most things on our heads.

Tyler loves to play “peek-a-boo”.

Tyler is on the verge of walking all by himself. He has the process down as long as he has something to hold onto. He spends many hours pushing our barstools around the house assisting him from point A to point B.

Our Little Farm Boy

A few weeks ago, Tyler was able to spend some time with the Wasden crew. Miss Cinda took the day off to attend her girls State Play-in Games, so aunt Penni offered to help me out with Tyler. As soon as Tyler arrived, Tucker and Dalli were ready to play. Let’s just say the fun began instantly! Tucker was excited to show Tyler his toys and Dalli was thrilled to have someone her own size to play with. When I picked Tyler up later that day, I was told that Tyler was an official “farm boy”. Tyler had a fun filled day with cousins, tractors, chores, cows, and wagon rides. Here are a few pictures of Tyler enjoying his visit with the Wasden’s.

Getting ready to feed the cows. Tucker, Tyler, and Dalli in the cab of the tractor…uncle Kade was so lucky to have this much help!

Tyler taking his turn at the wheel. Look out cows here we come!

Aunt Penni always said the best way for her kids to take a nap is to put them on the tractor. As you can see it worked well for Tyler. It’s hard work being a farm boy!

Tyler inspecting the tires after feeding the cows.

Tyler checking out the cows, making sure all is well with the herd…Grandpa Larsen would be proud!

As you can tell, Tyler had a lot of fun on the farm. Thank you Wasden family for taking on a third child and introducing Tyler to the “farm way of life”. We can’t wait to come back!
