The day after Tyler’s official birthday, we invited all the family over to celebrate with cake and ice cream. The day started off pretty good…the food was prepared, the treat bags were full, and the thank you gifts were ready to go. At the very last minute, I ran downtown to pick up a few last minute items before our company arrived for the party. Just as I was about to return home, Russ called and said Tyler just threw up! I quickly ran back home to help Russ take care of things and hoped that this was just a fluke. It was moments before the guests arrived, so we dressed Tyler in his very best and boy did he look handsome. To make a long story short…everyone arrived and Tyler continued to throw up throughout the day. During the party, we went through three completly different outfits...he even puked on Grandma Larsen and she had to change her outfit. Bless Tyler’s heart, he tried very hard to enjoy his company and open his gifts but continued to puke (empty gift bags come in very handy). As we tended to our sick boy, everyone went ahead and had cake and ice cream without us and then headed back to their healthy homes. Poor Tyler, this is no way to celebrate a first birthday, but it will be one we will never forget!

After several days of being sick and doing endless loads of laundry, I made this silly little cake for Tyler. It was time for him to enjoy his birthday cake and eat it too.
